Why Should I Join?
Most of the nodes and Bulletin Board Systems in the Fourpak area are financed from their respective sysops' own pockets, but our network would not function without the hilltop node sites, which are financed jointly by Fourpak and the Gloucester Repeater Group.
Each of these sites represents an initial investment of hundreds, if not thousands of pounds in hardware such as TNC’s, radios, antennas, computers, coax cable, and power supplies. Running costs include electricity, site rental, public liability insurance, and repairs to equipment which has a hard life in node service. And development of the local network to keep pace with growing traffic demands and new technologies requires continuous investment.
However, sysops don’t have bottomless pockets, and without some
contribution from the network users, sites would be lost and the network
would degrade. By joining Fourpak you will be helping to support and
improve the network. Membership costs only seven pounds per annum (less
than 14 pence a week). How Do I Join?
