The intended service area of GB3KD is Kidderminster, Bewdley, Stourport, and the immediately surrounding areas of North-West Worcestershire, which are not well served by existing 2m units due to the local geography.

The blue shading represents the areas where you should be able to use GB3KD with a hand-held rig in 90% of the locations.

The green shading represents the region with good mobile coverage in 90% of the locations, assuming a quarter wave roof mounted whip, and hand portable coverage in 50% of the locations.

The magenta shading depicts the regions where mobile coverage should be possible in 50% of the locations.

With a modern mobile rig and a 5/8 whip, you should be able to work 'KD on the M5 between jct 1 (West Brom) and Jct 8 (Strensham), the M6 around Walsall, and the M42 between Bromsgrove and the M40. It should cover Stourbridge, Hagley, south Birmingham, Bromsgrove, parts of Redditch, Droitwich, Worcester, Malvern, and Bromyard. But as GB3KD is in a valley, and only runs 2 watts into the aerial, don't expect big signals anywhere!

The repeater group would be pleased to receive any reception reports from within or outside the service area. Who knows, you might be able to claim the distance record!
